I’m so angry at damned Marvel right now.
No, not because of my hurt Loki feelings, but because of the short-mindedness, superficiality (I don’t even know whether that is a word) and black-and-white attitude throughout the whole comic.
Seriously, both Thor and Avengers did their best in showing a three-dimensional character development:
a) Thor is not the blonde, handsome hero who hasn’t got any personality flaws.
b) Loki is not a pure villain, he’s way more than that: hurt, most likely being tortured by a huge, evil purple guy (Thanos), spiritually in deep pain and so on.
b) In Thor, Odin was a dick, but a dick with feelings. In my opinion, he has never been an especially good parent, but in the prequel, he’s just too stupid to be even essentially credible.
All this things are being ignored or destroyed in the comic, making all the characters flat, arrogant and idiotic.
Example: in the movies, Thor has always loved Loki, no matter how much New York buildings he destroys in his rage and bitterness. Thor is torn between his own feelings of enormous guilt concerning his little brother and his devotion to Earth. None of that in the prequel; no; there, the writers prefer to make Thor a simple-minded douchebag who seems to think Loki is the source of all evil. (This makes me so angry.) I love Thor, I love how Chris Hemsworth portrays him and this comic put all his efforts to the flames.
Also, the prequel likes to forget the little fact that Loki fell into an abyss, fought a monster race and tried to survive when surrounded by hateful creatures (not even mentioning how torn he must be feeling inside, with this whole Jotun thing going on).
The only person I could stand in whole of this comic is Frigga. Thank God they didn’t ruin her character.
I love Loki, I love Thor and I love the way Tom Hiddleston and Chris Hemsworth portrayed them and the comic was in many ways an insult to the effort they’ve made.
And I am probably way too dramatic, emotional and subjective about this, but whatever. This just needed to be said, y’know?
